The Collection

Our archive is a diverse and rich tapestry of cultural history, encompassing everything from the Britpop explosion to classical music’s finest. It includes unseen photos of musical icons, rare glimpses into the 1980s club scene, and candid shots of global superstars, each telling a unique story.

Why It Matters

The Allan Archive is more than just a collection of photographs; it’s a living record of our cultural heritage. It offers a window into the past, capturing the essence of eras that have shaped our present. By preserving these moments, we ensure that the stories and legacies of these cultural icons continue to inspire future generations.

Our Journey

So Far In just one year, The Allan Archive has made a remarkable impact. We debuted with two exhibitions in Bologna, followed by a major exhibition at Hammersmith Studios, with 40 images on display for 12 weeks. Our photos featured on the front cover of “Taylor Swift: And the Clothes She Wears” and in “Prince: Icons.” We also launched a book titled “Press,” showcasing Mark Allan’s renowned and never-before-seen photographs, further cementing our commitment to preserving cultural heritage.

The People Behind The Allan Archive

The Allan Archive is a labour of love, driven by the vision and dedication of Mark Allan and Luke O'Shea Phillips. While Mark continues to capture stunning images as a working photographer, Luke has been behind the scenes, organising exhibitions, producing books, and curating the archive. Together, they have meticulously begun to index and digitised the collection, ensuring each image is preserved for future generations.

Looking Forward

As we look to the future, our commitment to expanding the archive remains unwavering. We are exploring avenues to include more of Mark’s work in collections across the UK,   …ensuring that his legacy continues to inspire and captivate audiences. The Allan Archive is not just a repository of photographs; it is a living, breathing testament to the power of visual storytelling.
